The family of a man who drowned a year ago in the swimming pool at the Quality Inn & Suites Seattle Center has filed a wrongful-death suit against the owners of the hotel, claiming poor maintenance made the water unusually murky and contributed to a botched rescue operation by firefighters.

Hard to say with only one side of the story, but it appears that many regulations were not adhered to. Considering the liabilities involved, and the relative ease with which less than satisfactory operation of swimming facilities can be demonstrated, It remains a mystery to me why hoteliers are not more cognizant of the law and pool/hot tub operations, and /or diligent regarding those operations.
